Building Skills & Creativity: KFA Brings Design to Life at MVG Club

By July 29, 2025No Comments

Club kids explored careers in architecture and learned that the future is theirs to build through a summer program with our long-time partner KFA Architecture! The Design w/ KFA program offered teens at our Jack & Cindy Jones Youth Center at Mar Vista Gardens Club a creative journey that sparked imagination, teamwork, and practical skills.

Over five weeks, KFA staff guided teens through a design program. From sketching out initial concepts to cutting, assembling, and painting, Club members were fully engaged in each step of the design process. With mentorship and guidance, they took their visions from paper to reality, something many had never experienced before.

KFA project lead Erick Rodriguez emphasized that the program offered youth a chance to engage in creative and project-based learning, experiences that are often missing from today’s school curriculums. Club members explored skills like woodworking, team collaboration, and the safe use of power tools. They grew more confident using new tools and experienced the joy of building something with their own hands. Beyond individual growth, they worked together to solve problems, share responsibilities, and bring their collective designs to life.

Each week, the Club was filled with energy, focus, and laughter as members dove into their projects. The pride they felt while putting the final touches on their creations was unforgettable, and the bonds they formed with KFA mentors were just as meaningful.

Thank you to KFA for a summer full of creativity, learning, and unforgettable memories. Our members are already asking when you’ll be back!
