Every kid deserves to play! Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica is dedicated to play equity and, this year, we received a grant to support just that from the LA84 Foundation!
What is play equity? LA84 defines it as “ensuring that all children, regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation, zip code, or socioeconomic status – have access to the opportunity to play and engage in physical activity.”
Girls and kids of color historically have less access to play than their peers, but we’re committed to changing that. We believe deeply in the power of play and our nonprofit works to increase access to safe, inclusive, empowering spaces where kids can play, grow, and dream.
The support from the LA84 Foundation equips us to continue providing affordable and tuition-free sports programs for local kids. From investing in talented coaches to providing sports equipment and uniforms to funding scholarships, this holistic support means more kids on the West Side have access to play.
And, through play, they will grow as leaders, build healthy habits, and do the most important work of being a kid!
Thank you to the LA84 Foundation for investing in our work to increase access to play! We are grateful for the impact you make on our Clubs and kids—and the community as a whole.
