Our Clubs are Safe Havens

We are committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all families, regardless of immigration status. Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica designates our Clubs as safe havens. Immigration enforcement officials are prohibited from entering our property without a federal judicial warrant and approval from our CEO.

The safety and well-being of your family is our top priority. Our safety practices include:

  • Data Privacy: The Club does not collect or maintain information related to immigration status. Families can rest assured that their information is solely used for enrollment and program-related purposes.
  • Safe Spaces: Immigration officials are prohibited from entering our Clubs without a federal judicial warrant approved by our CEO or Board President. If ICE visits one of our locations, our team is trained to implement a shelter-in-place protocol and ensure they have a valid warrant. If your child is at the Club at this time, we will notify you. We will keep you updated on the situation and notify you when the interaction is over and ICE have left the premises.
  • Staff Training: Our staff are receiving continuous training on how to handle ICE interactions.
  • Pickup Policy: We only release children into the care of adults who are authorized in the Parent Portal to pick them up. When your child is at the Club they are safe in our care until an approved adult arrives for pickup. Please ensure your profile is up-to-date and log into the Parent Portal to make changes if necessary.

Our policies are designed to ensure the safety of kids and families. Please let us know if you have any questions.
