2018 Youth of the Year Dinner

By February 8, 2018No Comments

Congratulations to Salvador Molina of our Mar Vista Gardens Branch–our 2018 Youth of the Year!!!

“The Boys and Girls Clubs allowed me to make a difference, not only in my community, but possibly the world, and created a pathway that has made the impossible, possible.”

Beginning in 1947, Youth of the Year has evolved into a comprehensive leadership development program and is BGCA’s signature effort to foster a new generation of leaders, fully prepared to live and lead in a diverse, global and integrated world economy. Annually, Boys & Girls Clubs across the country celebrate teens whose Club experience has empowered them to find their voice and achieve success through after-school experiences rooted in what matters to them most – choice, access, and passion.

This year, we gathered at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club to herald our five finalists, Lucia Curiel, Nathan Lam, Salvador Molina, Mylan Ross, and Delena Tiku, who delivered their speeches with strength and grace to nearly 200 attendees. After congratulating each member and thanking our group of incredible judges who dedicated their time and energy to a tough deliberation, the 2018 Youth of the Year winner was announced.

We are beyond excited to share that Mar Vista Garden’s own Salvador Molina will be representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica in the next round of this time-honored competition.
This title is the most prestigious honor bestowed upon our Club members and Salvador is now a candidate for state, regional and potentially national recognition as the BGCA Youth of the Year.
We are so proud of each of our members, and cannot wait to see what’s next for Salvador in this part of his journey!
